Mom leaves 9-year-old daughter's friend at school despite promising her dad she'd take her home, dad refuses to drive the daughter anywhere ever again: ‘She had to walk home while it was pouring rain’

When we were kids, back when we had no cellphones and no way to contact our parents whenever we wanted, the fear of being forgotten by our parents lurked in every corner.

Every time your parents were more than 5 minutes late to pick you up, your tiny little mind would already convince you that they had forgotten all about you, and you were going to have to learn how to live in the wild. Thankfully, in most cases, your parents never actually forget about you, and you get picked up and returned home safe and sound.

That was not the case for the daughter in the story below, unfortunately. Even though her father did not forget her, she was still forced to walk 25 minutes home in the rain after no one picked her up from school. The reason? Her dad asked a friend's mom to drive her home, but the mom failed to do so. She picked up her daughter alone and left his at school, without a single explanation.

So last week I had a doctors appointment right when my daughter was supposed to finish school and it was heavily raining that day my wife and brothers and brothers in law were all either working or far away from us so l called my daughters friends father and asked him if he could get the girls home, he said he was at work but he'd send his wife, he told me he'd tell her to also get my daughter so I didn't question it.

    When I got home I found my little daughter fully soaked and wet and she was crying, I asked her what happened and she said nobody picked her up and she had to walk the entire 25 minute walk home while it was pouring down rain, she said her friends mom came and took her daughter without offering mine a ride even though we live in the same neighbourhood, I called back her father to ask him why the h I she did that and he was angry.

    lac0701 I'm surprised the school let her walk home when she is a car rider. My school calls us if we don't show up, they won't release kids in a different way than previously communicated and especially to be a walker if it's not approved. ??
